Ian Betts (Langley Park) wins the Seniors Handicap Championship at Gillingham Golf Club

The inaugural Seniors handicap Championships took place at Gillingham Golf Club on Friday 8th May, bathed in glorious sunshine.

This new event, open to golfers aged 55 and over with a handicap of 10 and above, attracted a field of 26 from across the County, the winner being the golfer returning the lowest nett score.

Barry Miller, h/c 13 (Knole Park) and Martin Smith, h/c 16 (Mid Kent) both had scores of 68, however, Ian Betts, h/c 13 (Langley Park), a stalwart of the County for many years, held his nerve on the tricky par 3 18th to take the title with a 66.

It was an extremely enjoyable first event, very well hosted by Gillingham.

We look forward to this event growing in popularity over the coming years.
