The course was in fantastic condition with the greens running around 11 on the stint. The morning foursomes were a lot closer than the result ended up, it all came down to a few missed putts, which left Kent 3-1 down at lunch.
With great play by Liam Burns leading from the front Kent took the first match. Max Jordan had a great battle with Sussex Captain Richard Fung-On but lost 3&1 with Nick Panting winning 1 up and Jamie Guppy winning on the last green.
This made the match 4-4 but then Sussex took the lead. Josh Bristow and Danny Jones both lost 4&3. Ollie Daws was 1 down with 2 to play, hit a wedge on 17 to 2ft and then birdied the last. He won 1 up so it was all on the last match but Mike Bush lost after Duncan Scott holed an 8ft par putt on 17. Final result Sussex 7 Kent 5.
Our thanks to the Nevill and to both sets of players for the spirit the matches were played in.
