What a win for Kent v Dorset at Rochester & Cobham

Kent’s third league match was at Rochester and Cobham Park Golf Club which was in fantastic condition.  The morning foursomes showed why Kent had won the league for the last two years playing some great golf, we led the field at lunch 4-0.

The afternoon singles paired up some great matches with Liam Burns leading the team who had a close match with Andy Rideout but ended up winning one up after nine holes.  In the afternoon singles Kent were in total control of the match with Jacob Hassan winning 8&7 putting Kent in a strong position.  Next to win was Josh Bristow followed by Mark Collins, Danny Jones and Dan Brown.

With only two matches left on the course Dorset were looking to get something out of the match, but with Ollie Daws winning 17 then halving 18 it gave Kent another point so now it was left to Mike Bush to see if we could win 12-0.  Being 1 down on 17 it looked a only a dream but with a 12 foot birdie Mike went to the last - all square both players hit the fairway and played onto the green.  Mike had a 5ft putt to give Kent a 12-0 victory but it just passed the hole so the last match of the day was halved, making the match result Kent 11.5 to Dorset .5.

This was a fantastic win and one of the most impressive displays of golf which means if Kent go on to beat Surrey we retain the League title.

Thanks to Rochester and Cobham Park Golf Club, Jim Pocknell, Richard Young, Mark Ward, Ian Burton and caddies and supporters.
