Match report Kent Senior women’s team went to Canterbury on Monday 20th September needing a win to be the champions of the South-East inter-county league.
Our opponents were Essex and we were fortunate to have all our players available for this crucial game. The weather was kind to us - a very pleasant September day - and the course at Canterbury was in good condition, so all was set fair. We were also delighted to welcome a couple of supporters to watch the games - thanks go to David McCart and Janet Green for giving up their time to cheer us on.
Our County Captain, Tita McCart, very appropriately led the team off at number one and hit a cracking drive up the middle of thefirst fairway, quipping that this was the first time she’d managed to do that at Canterbury. It turned out to be a good omen as all the team played some excellent golf, resulting in a resounding victory for Kent. We had won the league! This is the first time that Kent has won this league and we will certainly plan a celebration when we receive the trophy later this year.
