MATCH REPORT
English Seniors County Final on Tuesday 8th – Thursday 10th October 2013 at the RAC Club
Match report for this week:-
The RAC Club Woodcote Park in the first week of October was a magnificent venue for this event and all the competitors were treated exceptionally well by the club. The course was in excellent condition and there wasn't much to grumble about - other than some of the greens that were around 60 yards long with great humps and hollows. It would be a test of character and the team that mastered the quite speedy greens would be the team that fared best.
Day 1 versus Lancashire - highlights:-
The half achieved by Chris Reynolds and Chris Hurst in the morning foursomes, 2 down with 2 to play.
Ross Galgut beating Senior International Stewart King
Ricky Moore battling back from 5 down to be 1 down "up the last" but lost
David Weighton also battling and one down on the last but Lancashire had tree trouble and the winning half point was secured
Match result - Kent 5 Lancashire 4
Day 2 versus Lincolnshire - highlights:-
The whole team who overcame Lincolnshire 8 to 1. Lancashire beat Devon by a similar margin.
Day 3 versus Devon - highlights:-
The cold!
Reynolds and Hurst in the foursomes winning 16 and 17 to win.
Partridge and Wright in the foursomes squeezing a half after looking like a loss after three putting 15 and bunker and tree trouble at 17
Partridge, Hurst and Reynolds all getting good wins in the singles to secure the halved match that won the event
Moore coming back from 4 down to win his last 2 holes and his match to give us a winning margin over Devon
Match result - Kent 5.5 - Devon 3.5
Lancashire beat Lincolnshire
Overall Kent won 3 matches and the Championship to make it 4 wins in 5 years and 5 wins overall in this event.
Well done the players and all the Kent supporters who came along to caddy or just to watch and offer support.
