GEORGE MULLINS (LANGLEY PARK)
England Golf SE Group Junior Championships at Moor Park Golf Club
on Tuesday 15th July 2014
Report:
George Mullins, from Langley Park Golf Club, won the SE Junior Championships on the High Course at Moor Park Golf Club last week. George won the event by a clear 3 shots with rounds of 72 & 68 (level/-4). He had two clinical rounds on an excellent golf course in central Hertfordshire with the manicured greens running quick and true.
George was not the only success on the day as two other Kent lads also had success’s and finished equal 4th. Max Jordan (72/73), also from Langley Park and George Cockayne (72/73) from Rochester & Cobham Golf Club, both were extremely pleased with their day’s work. Tom O’Reilly (Sidcup) and Conor Byers (Langley Park) both played good golf with +4 (=13th) & +6 (22nd) respectively.
Kent had 13 junior golfers in the field with nine Under 18s and four Under 16s. Many of the Under 18s were using this event also as practice round for the England Golf event being played next week called The Carris. This is a very prestigious event on the golfing calendar and it would be great to have Kent success.
Both Ben Luckhurst (Chart Hills) and Taron Donovan (Royal Blackheath) were the most successful Under 16s and finished up =23th & 28th respectively. Ben had a good first round 73 and Taron had a good second round 72.
