TERRIFIC TEAMKENT TURNAROUND!!  Under 13s Victorious

After a night of heavy rain we arrived at Shortlands Golf Club to find a warm welcome awaited us.  The Secretary Mr Peter May, Captain Terry Mulvaney plus Pro Mark Woods and a number of Shortlands members, were present to ensure we had suitable supporters, ladies and gents thanks so much!!

They were not disappointed when drive after drive went sailing down the first fairway, with all teams eager to show their County proud.  Sussex under John Wilson was a truly young side with no County experience and at days end were relegated to last, but with some noticeable scalps from both camps.  Surrey with Steve McNeill looked very formidable and at ams end they held a slender lead.  Kent was also fielding five new players ( Adam Carnell, Tom Jordan, Barney Foreman, Thomas O'Reilly, Luke Thornton ) so it was quite promising as a number of them had collected points.

The President had been able to attend during part of the morning and I believe his influence with the boys may have had something to do with the amazing turnaround in the afternoon.  Our TEAMKENT side may have been new but the spirit was there, after a photoshoot by Paula Adams' Mum, who presented all our team with photographs to remember the occasion (see below).

Onto the pm Singles, our Captain Ollie Daws opened with a double, so did VC George Mullins followed close behind by another of our new men Adam, again doubling up, a tremendous start, this news went swiftly through the team.

The buzz continued with Marcus next with 3 points after being all at sea earlier in the round, it was tremendous to see the spirit!  This was beginning to look like something I had always dreamed about, not to be outdone new boys Barney and Tom, along with twin Max all continued to produce wins in all directions.  All down to the last three matches then, Luke got 2 points, ever sure Matt did the double with Thomas adding 2 points to add up to a resounding win for TEAM KENT.

At the presentation of the Shield won by Surrey last year, TEAMKENT have now won again twice in three years.

A big thank you to Shortlands for the condition of the course, for their assistance and support both on and off the course, and the caterers for keeping us fed and watered.

The sides as usual displayed good spirit, showed consideration to each other and generally behaved in a manner expected by County players, they did their County's proud, I hope this will continue in the years ahead.
