Top Club and Eric Green Trophies
Sheerness played host to the finals of the Kent Top Club knock-out (a two pair aggregate 4BBB competition) and the Eric Green Individual Members' Knock Out. The Eric Green was closely contested between Christophe Vandamme of West Kent and Paul Copley of Royal Cinque Ports. In the end, Paul prevailed by virtue of a birdie on 16 and a 'gimme' up and down on 17, winning 2 and 1. Evelyn Green was on hand to present the trophy to Paul (pictured below - click on the photo to expand).
The Top Club Trophy saw last year's beaten finalists, Weald of Kent, playing West Kent (John Wiltshire, Jay Dink, John Draper and Dave Lincoln). It may have been past experience on this course that saw them home, but Weald of Kent (Chris Turner, Keith Cleary, Lee Jones and Adrian McCabe - shown below (click to expand)) were the winners in both matches and, therefore, became Top Club champions and will host the final in 2018.
