Top Club and Eric Green Finals
On a splendid day at Weald of Kent today, the finals of two of the county's knock-outs were contested. First out were Peter Stevenson (Chislehurst) and Barry Thompson (Lydd) in the final of the Eric Green Individual Members' Trophy. This match was closely contested and went to the 18th where Barry Thompson prevailed. In the final of the Top Club 4-ball knock-out, Wildernesse team of Jeremy Richardson, John Miles, Bruce Reid & Nick Fitzgerald were playing Sheerness (who were contesting their third final in 4 years in this event) team of Brett Nevin, Paul Mason, Kevin Cawston & Ashley Mason. The matches were played in great spirit and there was some excellent golf played by both teams. In spite of Sheerness' second pairing fight back from 3 down back to all square at the 16th, the aggregate score was such that Wildernesse took the 2018 title and, as a result, will host these two finals in 2019.
