Latest Men's Order of Merit report

Date published: 1 Jul 2022

We now have two runaway leaders tied at the top of the Order of Merit rankings after the Darwin Plate at West Kent on Sunday 26th June.

The competition was played out in tough conditions, with the stiff wind increasing as the day went on. The course, however, was set up in its typical, beautifully aesthetic way and received compliments from the entire field of players, with members stating it was the best they had ever seen the course. Congratulations and thanks to Head Greenkeeper, Darren Burdis and his hard-working team, for getting the course in such fantastic condition.

The winner on the day, and collecting his 4th Darwin Plate title, was Danny Curtis of Knole Park after rounds of 75 and 73, which took him one clear of Nick Panting to claim the win, congratulations Danny!

The Handicap competition was won on the day by Chislehurst’s Gavin Caldwell who picks up the Beagle Cup.

Back to the Order of Merit though and Nick Pantings 2nd place was enough to tie the top spot of the rankings with Matthew Gibson, who added to his points tally with his 11th place finish. The pair are level on 87 points, some 28 points clear of the nearest challenger, Harry Knight of Mid-Kent Golf Club, who will have the chance to close the gap at this weekend’s Pilgrims Plate at Canterbury Golf Club.
