The inaugural Ford Cup event report (Disability Golf Day)

Date published: 9 Jul 2023

What an amazing day yesterday at the Stonelees Golf Centre! We would like to thank Stonelees for allowing Kent Golf to host the inaugural Ford Cup event for juniors with physical and learning disabilities. The families helped with caddying and scoring, making sure the children enjoyed their experience playing in a golf competition. It was fantastic to watch these young golf stars play and most of all enjoy themselves.

Gary Bason (PGA Professional), thank you so much for what you do for these young people and also to of one of our volunteers, Barry Sears. Thank you also goes to our sponsors Variety Golf for funding this great project for Kent Golf.

We were lucky to have the presence of Ross & Erin from Golfway, who came all the way from Bristol to attend the event and set up a few games. They gave out caps to the players, and presented a Golfway game to David Dunn, who won the game that Ross had set up.

The winner of the Ford Cup was Tyler with a total of 18 shots and the runner up was Louan with 19 gross shots. The event was played on the 5 hole academy course.

Most importantly, we never had a rain, the Gods were looking down on these special people.

Watch our video from the day.

Don't forget to register for the upcoming Golf Disability Family Day at Stonelees GC on Saturday 16 September!
It is free to enter and the format of the day is Texas Scramble on the Par 3 course followed by a BBQ.
