STORY 1

When brothers Georgie and Joey moved to the area in August 2021, they didn't know any children their age, but upon joining Faversham Golf Club, they struck up a wonderful friendship with another set of siblings and fellow junior members, Max and Harry.

The boys were at different schools and in different school years, yet golf has enabled them to become the best of friends. Come rain or shine, they can often be found at the golf club, either playing or practising and challenging one another to putting and chipping 'competitions'.

They play in junior competitions at Faversham together, as well as other Junior Opens and other golfing fixtures, Max even 'caddied' for Georgie during the Kent Invicta 12s at Hever Castle earlier this year. They have also all recently visited Prince's Golf Club together to watch The Women's Amateur Championship and are looking forward to going to the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in September!

STORY 2

The 5 of us met and have become firm friends through volunteering at KCLGA (Kent County Ladies Golf Association) and then after Unification at Kent Golf.

Last year we went to the Netherlands and played at the Royal Hague. This year we’re going to the Solheim Cup in Spain and are planning to go to South Africa in 2024.

STORY 3

As team manager for the boys U18 county squad, I've witnessed enduring friendships brought about by a shared love of the sport. Golf can be a solitary game, but our current U18 squad have competed together since they were U14s. Last year, they won pretty much everything they played in as a team, this year has been more challenging.

The team spirit, banter, support, and friendships are evident at every training session and match. These friendships now extend beyond golf with lasting memories of competitive youth golf that they will always have in common.

And as a bonus, competitive team golf has brought together a group of parents. Travelling around the UK together to support their boys over the years, they have helped each other with advice, lifts, support, and again, formed real and lasting friendships.
