Invicta 10s & 12s report

Date published: 4 Aug 2023

The last leg before the final of the Invictas Tour took place on the short course at Etchinghill, and for once this year, the rain stayed away from a junior event! Our new Junior Development Officer, Tim Ewer, was in attendance and did a grand job of setting out the tees and starting the youngsters off. He enjoyed meeting all the players and was impressed with their swings and their attitude towards the game.

We had some fine scoring in the Invicta 12s competition with a 75 from Dexter Stavri, which was good enough to give him third place on countback from Louis Garvey. Taking the second spot with a 69 was Baden Brown, but there was no denying Georgie Holman, who had 37 on his front nine and a rather marvellous 29 on the back for a total of 66. And just to cap off his day perfectly, he had a hole-in-one! Well done, Georgie!

The Invicta 10s were also showcasing their talents, and the skills tests were, as ever, hotly contested. Taking the prize for putting was Oscar Robertson, whilst Josh Searle emerged victorious from the bunker challenge. Leading the way in the driving was Oliver Deane Bowers, but nobody could match Jeremy Li, who kept up his consistent form to take the overall skills prize. Jeremy also had a good day on the course and won the nine-hole competition with a score of 33, one shot better than Oliver. Making up the top three was Josh with a 36.

Etchinghill were excellent hosts, and we thank them for their hospitality and support of Kent Junior golf.

We now look forward to the grand finale to the 2023 Invictas Tour, which will be at North Foreland Golf Club on 3rd September.
