End of Year Message from the Chair, Alan Austin

Last updated: 22 Dec 2023

I am pleased to report that we had another good year following on from the successes of 2022. This is all despite the weather doing its utmost to rain on our parade, literally. First and foremost, our county teams have again performed well this year.

Women’s Senior Team – South Region Inter-Scratch League winners
Women’s First Team – County Match Week runners-up
Men’s First Team – EG South Eastern Group Qualifier winners
Men’s Senior Team – EG Southern Counties Foursomes champions
Kent U13 Boys – Triple Shield Trophy winners

Well done to our teams – you have made us proud, a big thank you to all the team managers, coaches, and volunteers for their hard work. Some near misses this year for some teams as well, but I know we will be back better and stronger for 2024.

Developing golf for all is one of our key objectives. I am pleased to report that we are going from strength to strength, whether that’s holding a championship, county event, our development academies, junior coaching / mini tours, and golf with disability programmes. We are also looking at building new pathways for developing accessibility to golf, getting more people each year from all walks of life enjoying this wonderful game.

All Kent Golf events only happen because of the tremendous hard work behind the scenes of all our volunteers and full-time employees, your dedication, professionalism and turning up in all weathers hot or cold (but this summer mainly rain), is very much appreciated. Thank you.

Finally, a big thank you goes to all Kent clubs whose continued support, hospitality, and generosity enable us to host events each year.

This just leaves me to wish you, the members, a very enjoyable festive season, and let’s hope 2024 is another successful year for us all.
