Invicta 10s & 12s report

Date published: 11 Apr 2024

There aren’t many days when you come in after golf and eat a bowl of ice cream to warm up, but today was one of those days! A strong and bitter wind blew across the course at Pedham Place, but it didn’t deter the 30 brave youngsters who took part in our first Invictas event of 2024. With a nice mixture of returning players and new faces, early-season enthusiasm was still high despite the unseasonal weather.

Our Invicta U12 players, over 18 holes of the par 3 course, displayed some good scoring, and there was a tie at the top between Reggie Jones and George Hammond on 72, with Reggie just edging it on countback. Rounding out the top three with a very creditable 76 was Cameron Callaghan.

Our U10s played 9 holes on the course and, again, the scoring was very competitive. Best of the day was Harry Martin on 35, with Harrison D’Arcy just two shots behind on 37. Four players jostled for the third spot on 38 with Logan Prett emerging triumphant on countback.

In the Skills tests, Valentin Scott took the honours in putting, with Tommy Coombes scooping the chipping prize. The longest driver of the day was Elliott Thomas, and Joseph Robinson showed impressive consistency across all three disciplines to be our overall Skills winner.

All our players deserve a big well done for not giving in when it must have been very tempting to do so.

And a special thank you to our volunteers – Cheryl, Tim, Sandy, and Richard – who braved the elements to guide our juniors round.

Here’s hoping that our next stop on the Invictas Tour - Hever Castle in May – will be sunny and warm!
