Kent 1st Team v Essex 1st Team at Brentwood Golf Club
This is our annual friendly against Essex but played as a full match with foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Brentwood Golf Club were great hosts and were keen for this match to go ahead even though the conditions were less than perfect. Prior to the match it was agreed that we would have preferred lies anywhere on the course and all the bunkers were GUR.
The morning foursomes went really well for Kent going into lunch having a 4-0 lead. It was therefore a case of maintaining the pressure in the afternoon. Whilst Essex were making a comeback in the afternoon it was never going to be enough. The final result being 7 1/2 to 3 1/2. The result sheet gives the performances on the day but it was a great team effort.
I would like to thanks Jim Pocknell (President), Benn Barham (Coach) and the parents, who came along, for their support and company on the day.
We look forward to the return fixture next year whereby Kent will host the match at Sheerness GC.
