In their first 3 matches (Monday and Tuesday) Team Kent beat Sussex and Middlesex but lost to Surrey. On the final morning (Wednesday) the contest was still wide open with 3 counties (Hampshire, Kent and Sussex) on 4 points out of 3 matches. The climax of the week was immensely exciting as it all came down to the last putt on the 18th green in the last match between Sussex and Middlesex. In the end Team Kent narrowly missed out successfully defending their title by just 1/2 point. This was a script no one could have written at the beginning of the week.

The final results table: Sussex (11.5), Kent had (11), Surrey, Hampshire and Middlesex.
