With some brave souls wearing shorts on an unusually chilly late-May morning, Hever Castle was our host for the second stage of this year’s Invicta 10s and 12s tour. With seven entries into the Under 12s section and 26 in the Under 10s, it promised to be another busy day of golfing for our Kent youngsters.
Playing 18 holes on the Princes course – interspersed with a nice spot of lunch – the Under 12s are coming on well and competition was keen. Taking third place on 85 was Baden Brown, four shots behind the runner-up, George Hammond. But no one could match Louis Garvey, who triumphed with a splendid 73. Well done, Louis!
In the Under 10s competition, our winner in the Putting Skills was Oscar Robertson, and he also took third prize over 9 holes. We had joint winners in the Chipping in the shape of Zac Webb and Noah Norman, with Noah also taking the runners-up spot over 9 holes. But it was a bonanza of a day for one young player. Jeremy Li won both the Driving and Overall Skills Challenges and also came out top over 9 holes on the course. Well played, Jeremy!
All our young golfers enjoyed the terrific hospitality and beautiful setting of Hever Castle Golf Club and we look forward to the next stop on our Invictas Tour – Boughton (The Cave) on 26th July, when hopefully it will be a little warmer!
