Kent senior women's third league match of the season was our first one at home and was at Canterbury GC on Friday 9th June. The course was very firm and bouncy as it hadn't rained for at least 3 weeks. The quite strong north-easterly wind that has been with us for a long time continued to blow, however the sun was out and the temperatures were much more pleasant. The key challenges for the players were to manage the gusty wind and estimate how far the ball would bounce after landing. With the rough now fairly long there was also a premium on staying on the fairways.
Middlesex had come for a practice round the day before, helping them to get to grips with the course conditions and so our players played well to come away with a 4-2 victory. We've now played and won 3 out of our 4 matches in the league and just need to keep our form going for the last match at the end of July.
Thanks go to Canterbury GC for their warm welcome and presenting the course in good condition.
