A full field of 54 women were treated to a lovely day of summer golf at Ashford, our hosts for this year’s Team Waltz. The course looked most inviting, bathed as it was in golden rays, as our 18 teams set out to do battle over the undulating layout.
With one score counting on the first hole, two on the next, three on the third, and repeat, this format provided a welcome change from the usual individual medal or stableford, and was well-received by the players.
Coming out on top with a score of 72 points was the home trio of Sue Canney, Pauline Pfeffer and Maria Grieve. They just pipped the Nizels team of Pauline Pullen, Jackie Taylor and Amanda Rose on countback. Rounding out the top three were Sally Seboa, Sharon Kent and Yvonne Bartlett who were flying the flag for Dartford.
Nearest the pin on the short but tricky 5th went to Pauline Pullen and nearest the pin on the closing hole was won by Laura Lennon from Eltham Warren.
Ashford put on a smashing buffet for us which went down a treat and we thank them for their hospitality.
