Hinge Trophy Rd 2 report

Date published: 15 Jan 2024

The Kent Golf 2024 season got underway at a chilly but calm Prince’s Golf Club with round two of the Hinge Trophy, where 48 players teed it up hoping to win one of the coveted 24 places available for the final at Royal St. George’s. Despite the benign conditions, the Himalayas/Shore layout still provided its usual stern test and only three players scored par or better.

Taking third place with a 72 was Lloyd Godwin (Mid-Kent), just losing second place on countback to Abe Bignell (Kings Hill). Best of the day was Jake Potter (Chelsfield Lakes), whose combined nines of one under and level, were good enough to give him victory by the slenderest of margins. The cut for the qualifiers fell at five over with Tom Paterson (Boughton) and Paul Boozer (Sheerness) claiming the final two slots, edging out six other unlucky fellows on the same score.

We now look forward to the final at The Royal St. George’s Golf Club on 28th January. Full results from rounds one and two can be found below.
