Autism Acceptance Week golf events report

Date published: 8 Apr 2024

Kent Golf held four events during last week to recognise #WorldAutismAcceptanceWeek. Golf sessions arranged by Junior Development Officer Tim Ewer were run at Knole Park GC, Upchurch River Valley GC, Tudor Park GC, and Kings Hill GC.

We would like to thank our amazing Kent professionals, James Brooker, Chris Pearson, and Mark Trow for their dedication, patience, and skill, which made each session very successful.

Everyone who attended had such a great time, and for many it was their very first experience of golf. We have received some great feedback from both attendees and parents.

Many thanks to the Mayor and Lady Mayor of TMBC, James & Jill Lark, and our own Kent Golf President Marliyn Brown, who attended the final session at Kings Hill GC.

We managed to persuade The Mayor (who has family connections, Past Captains of Knole Park GC) to have a go as well!

Many thanks must go to company Sketch N Build Events & Exhibitions, who generously sponsored the week.

As it has been such a successful initiative, we are looking at running some more sessions specifically for youngsters with ASD, and also our Junior Development Officer Tim Ewer is currently in discussions with The Ernie Els Foundation to see how we can work together on future projects.

The future of inclusive golf is looking bright.
