Winter Fourball 2023/24 Final report

Jacqui Mount and Claire Wilson, defending champions from Canterbury, were playing Sandy Hallet and Alison Chapman from Prince's in the 2023/24 Winter Fourball final hosted by Walmer & Kingsdown GC.
Thankfully, the heavy rain squall passed over 30 minutes before the match started, but there were still several rain showers to contend with as well as strong winds throughout the match.
A steady start by both teams with the first three holes being halved until Jacqui sunk a birdie putt after a fabulous tee shot on the Par 3 4th and Canterbury was 1 up. The lead was short lived when Sandy parred the 5th to level the match and the Princes’ pair won the next two holes to go 2 up.
Great putting by Ali and a super approach shot on the 9th gave Prince's a 3 hole lead on the turn before going 4 up with a birdie by Sandy on the next hole.
Claire enjoyed a sandy par on the par 3 11th to keep the match at 4up, and the next three holes were halved, leaving Prince's 4 up with 4 to play. Jacqui just missed the putt on 15 to score 5 net 4, Ali had a putt for a 4 net 3 but missed and sent the ball 4 foot past the hole. A pressure putt back was sunk by Ali resulting in a halved hole, and Prince's won the match 4 & 3.
Well done to Sandy and Ali on their victory. A great match
