Autumn Secretary Conference report

Thursday 28th November saw Kent Golf host the Autumn Secretary Conference at The Darenth GC. With over 40 General Managers/Secretaries as well as Course Managers, Greenkeepers, and Greens Committee Representatives, representing 23 clubs, there was a buzz in the room as they gathered to hear presentations on sustainability, safeguarding, disciplinary and mental health.
Our thanks to Owen James, England Golf Sustainability Manager, who delivered the morning session, which included group interactive work on this very ‘in vogue’ subject, some of which certainly got us thinking. Petra Duvanna, England Golf Lead Safeguarding Officer, again using group work to promote thought and discussion in this emotive area. Damion Greetham, England Golf Disciplinary Officer, delivering guidance on how to successfully deal with disciplinary matters within golf clubs. Stevie Rice, CEO of West Kent MIND who outlined the good work that the charity does across the county as well as raised awareness of the number of people in Kent who are affected by mental health issues.
