Another year of Kent Golf competitions has come and gone and we rounded it off in true festive style with a full field of 60 for our annual Christmas Meeting at Kings Hill Golf Club. Our sincere thanks go to Melanie, Steve, Michaela, and the whole team at Kings Hill for looking after us so handsomely and for hosting this event once again. There were some splendid Christmas jumpers on display – don’t forget to enter our Christmas Jumper Photo Competition! – and a good time was had by all.
Taking home the longest drive spoils were Amanda Jones-Reid (Bearsted) and, most unusually, in a tie for the men’s, Chris Bass-Gualbert (Lamberhurst) and Tim Bown (Leeds Castle).
Sharp shooting on the par 3s were Jacqui Neilly (Corinthian) and Sharon Andrews (Prince’s), and for the men, Mark Fuller (Rochester & Cobham Park) and James Ferguson (Tenterden).
There was some very impressive scoring in the fourball betterball stableford and coming in third were the Rochester & Cobham Park pair of Phil Budden and Stewart Owen with 44 points. Runners-up, also with 44 points and taking it on last-six countback, were Malcolm Gofton and Andy Yates (West Malling). But nobody could touch the Leeds Castle pairing of Kenneth Wood and Stephen Blackburn who dovetailed to perfection for their fabulous 49 points. Many congratulations!
Thank you to everyone who has supported our Kent Golf competitions in 2024 and it has been great to see lots of new faces coming along and enjoying our events alongside our trusty regulars.
We wish you all a happy festive season and look forward to 2025 - our Kent Golf Centenary Celebration year!
