2025 Centenary Week – Day 1 report

The weather Gods were most definitely not on our side at Walmer & Kingsdown Golf Club for the first competition of our special Centenary week; it wasn’t enough to have gale force winds – why not throw in a bit of rain, too! But ten intrepid teams ventured out onto the course, determined to make the best of it and help get our celebration events underway.
It was no surprise to anyone when the winning team turned out to be the host club – although they assure us that it is not always like that! Congratulations to the Walmer & Kingsdown team of John Boyd, Jeff Knight, Nick Hill and Derek Lindars for scoring an impressive 80 points. Runners-up were the team representing Sidcup - Angela Rossi, Wendy Swift, Carli Smith and Diane Heron – on 78 points, with third place going to Langley Park represented by Clive Peddle, Dominic D’Inverno, Andrew Dickson and David Pain on 75.
Many thanks to the teams who turned up to help Kent Golf celebrate our special year, and a very big thank you to Walmer & Kingsdown for hosting this special event and for their tremendous hospitality.
As we move on to Royal Blackheath today, it's nice to see that fate has a bit of sunshine in store!
