We were blessed with a beautifully sunny day at Chart Hills Golf Club for the 2025 Women’s Amateur Championship, held for the first time in conjunction with the Men’s in order to celebrate our special Centenary year. The par 72 course was playing long but fair and provided a good test to our 42 competitors.
Setting the pace after the morning round was Skye Fontanelli (Faversham) with a fine round of 73, which was good enough to give her a four-shot lunchtime lead over Canterbury’s Alex Ord. In third place was Alessandra Kutz (Prince’s) on 78, with Nicola Smith (Sittingbourne) a further shot back.
In the afternoon, Alex and Alessandra shot matching 76s, which would see them finish in second and third place respectively, whilst Skye’s 79 was good enough to give her a 152 total and victory by a single shot. Many congratulations to Skye on becoming the Kent Women’s Amateur Champion for 2025; an assured performance and a very worthy winner.
Skye will now go on to represent Kent in the England Golf Champion of Champions event at Woodhall Spa in September, where we are sure she will do us proud.
The Team Shield winners were Prince's. Congratulations.
