Women's Senior Team v Hampshire match report

Date published: 2 Jul 2025

On one of the hottest days of the year, with only a little wind to cool them down, the senior women’s team beat Hampshire 3½ - 2½ at Romsey GC. It was one of the closest matches we’ve had in a long time, with 4 players going to the 18th. The match was tied at 2½ points each, with our last player coming up the 18th and everyone nervously watching. To our delight, Caroline chipped in for a great birdie to seal the win.

It’s only Hampshire’s second year in the league, and having learnt from last year’s experience, they turned up with a much stronger team this time, fielding an England international at number one.

The course was very tight and bone dry, so some well judged course management was needed to stay on the greens. The team adapted very well and showed great resilience playing in such scorching heat.

Thanks go to Romsey GC for a very warm welcome and their friendly hospitality.
