We were blessed with non-stop sunshine and beautiful views for the 2025 ABCD Meeting at Sene Valley Golf Club. The firm and bouncy course, coupled with the tricky greens, meant good scores were hard to come by.
In the A Division medal, for handicaps of 12.4 and below, Dartford’s Anne Wheble made it a hattrick of wins in this competition as she just pipped Ali Ord (Canterbury) by one stroke. Taking the Nett trophy was the defending champion and home player, Gill McMillan, with Nizels’ Pat Morecroft taking the runner-up spot.
In the B Division stableford, for handicaps of 12.5 to 22.4, the spoils went to Beryl Sutherland (Ashford) with a best-of-the-day 36 points, one ahead of Tenterden’s Clarissa Willey.
Another Ashford player, Amy Carpenter, won C Division (22.5-36.4) with 32 points, on countback from her clubmate, Lesley Chipperfield.
Completing the winner’s circle was D Division champion, Wendy Stapleford (Rochester and Cobham).
Thank you to Helen Johnson for running the day, and a big thank you to Jo and her team at Sene Valley for their warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. It is always a pleasure to visit!
