Not only did Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club present their course in beautiful condition, they also laid on perfect golfing weather for the 2025 27-hole Doxford Foursomes.
The competitors were greeted with warm croissants and then set out for their morning round of 18 holes. There was some solid scoring and three pairs managed to get 37 points – Caroline Gregory and Shela Maine-Wyncoll (Sundridge Park), Kate Mills and Jane Steatham (Etchinghill), and Sue Brooks and Lorraine Wilding (Weald of Kent) – and with three other pairs just one point behind on 36, things were nicely poised for the afternoon.
With an excellent afternoon score of 20 points over nine holes, Sue Canney and Pauline Pfeffer (Ashford) came out of the pack to post a total of 55 points and take the Doxford Salvers on countback from Kate and Jane.
Taking the Doxford Horses for best 18 holes were Caroline and Shela, with Sue and Lorraine taking the runners-up spot.
Ashford’s Tracyann Wood and Carol McBain won the 9-hole prize with 18 points, just ahead of Jill Oliver and Sharon Kent (Dartford).
Our thanks go to Sittingbourne for their hospitality – the homemade cake went down a treat – and a big thank you to Kent Golf volunteer, Fran, and Sittingbourne member, Steph, who played as markers. Our final thank you goes to the Sittingbourne members who acted as starters both morning and afternoon.
A lovely day all round and congratulations to the winners.
