Our second Futures event of the season was held at Whitstable and Seasalter Golf Club with 23 youngsters taking part on a dry summer’s day.
Nearest the pin on the 4th hole was won by Sam Taylor from Ashford and Mia Frith from Hever Castle, and on the 15th hole it was won by Tommy Stother.
The players were divided into three categories, and in division A, handicaps 12.9 to 18, first place went to Zachary Behcet from Langley Park with 38 points, and the runner up was Oliver Bowers from Chelsfield Lakes with 35 points.
In division B, handicaps 18.8 to 26.3, first place went to Felix Frith, Hever Castle, with 38 points, and runner up was Owen Goddard from London Beach with 36 points.
In division C, handicaps 26.5 to 54, first place went to our youngest player, being only 6 years old, Max Everard-Pennell, with 49 points, and runner up, missing out on countback with also 49 points, was Mia Frith from Hever Castle.
It was nice to see twins Henry and Alex O’Brien, who were celebrating their birthday, taking part in the competition.
Our thanks go to Kent Golf volunteers Marilyn, Tim, Christine, and Helen who give up so much of their time to help our budding young golfers and the parents who also helped them getting round the course.
Thank you also to Whitstable and Seasalter GC for making everyone feel so welcome and supporting our junior programme.
The next Futures event is at Eltham Warren on Monday 18th August. Sign up here.
