Kent Men's Senior Team v Sussex match report

Date published: 3 Aug 2025

Kent's Senior Men played Sussex at Worthing GC on the 31 July, with the hosts running out 6-4 winners. A match played in great spirit produced much high quality golf on both sides.

Philip Palmer (North Foreland) carried on his good form from the Foursomes earlier in the week, winning 3/2, as did Richard Tomlin (Sundridge Park), winning a tight game 1 up. Mark Haffenden (Langley Park) won another tight, quality game 1 up, with both players under par.

Phil Judge (Bearsted) halved with quality Sussex player Martin Galway in a super game, with both players showing excellent short game skills. Richard Partridge (Wildernesse) halved his match, which was abandoned on the 16th as a storm that had threatened the match all day finally hit the golf course.

Kent’s other team members, James Jones (Wrotham Heath), Martin Farbrace (Sene Valley), Frank Adam (Langley Park), Bob Florence (Rochester & Cobham), and Steve Robson (Canterbury) all fought well but lost their matches.
