Kent U14 Boys v Hertfordshire and Essex match report

Date published: 18 Aug 2025

Our U14 boys played their final league match of 2025 yesterday at a beautifully presented and sunny Knebworth GC.

We were in the fortunate position to be able to field a slightly amended team for the final game, having won our previous two, so we gave all the boys who hadn’t played any competition golf this season the chance to shine.

The golf was, as usual, outstanding, played in a great spirit between all three sides. The boys have become friends as well as adversaries over the past two years of playing against them.

And of course, they see each other regularly at other England Golf Competitions during the year.

The overall results were Kent 6 - Essex 2, and Kent 4½ - Herts 3½, which means that Kent have qualified for The SE Golf Final that will be held at Bramshaw GC in The New Forest on Sunday 14 September (first tee times 9am). Our opponents in the final will be Surrey & Bedfordshire.

As you know, Kent won this prestigious trophy in 2025, so we’re going full out to try to retain it.

Many thanks must go to all the U14 players this season; they’ve played their hearts out for the County and made us very proud.

Anyone is very welcome to come and support the boys in September, it’s a lovely part of the country and a lovely golf course.

Thanks also to the parents for their amazing support this year, and a special thanks to Peter Parks for getting them to this level.
