There was a touch of Autumn in the air at the Kent Golf Summer Stableford and Foursomes competition, held this year at Ashford Golf Club.
A fairly strong wind made good scoring hard to come by in the morning stableford and, much to his surprise, Hever Castle’s Duncan Mackie took the honours with 32 points, on countback from Richard Coward (Leeds Castle). Coming in third with 31 was Mark Brown (Dartford).
There was even better news for Mark in the afternoon foursomes as he and his partner, Matthew Corbin (Bexleyheath), carded a solid 35 points to take the Starter’s Trophy by two points from Redlibbets’ Margaret Jeffs and Karen Taylor. Another Redlibbets pair, Lynn Craven and Darren Read, rounded out the prize-winners.
Our thanks go to Ashford Golf Club for making us so welcome and for providing such splendid catering throughout the day.
