Kent Senior Men's Team finish as runners up in the Southern Region Foursomes Final

The Kent Senior Men played the 36 hole final of the Southern Region Foursomes this week at Swaffham GC in Norfolk. Few had heard of the town, none had played the course, but all were very pleasantly surprised. We were all made to feel very welcome, and the well designed course was in super condition, especially given the summer conditions.
The finalists alongside Kent were Sussex, Dorset, and Norfolk. The morning session had Norfolk winning 4.5 points out of 5, Sussex winning 3 points, but with Kent only winning 2 points. However, the afternoon session saw the Kent team put on a great fightback to pick up 4/ 5 points. Sussex, with a strong team as always, managed 3 more points, meaning we were both tied at 6-6. The count-back was decided on "holes up", and Sussex, having had some large wins, ran out winners 23-12, so congratulations to them.
My thanks to the team for giving it everything, and a special mention to Martin Farbrace (Sene Valley) and James Jones (Wrotham Heath) for winning both of their matches.
