It may have been bright and sunny at the coast, but there was a definite bite in the air as our budding young Invictas congregated at North Foreland Golf Club for our traditional end-of-season Jamboree.
On the day, in the Under 12s, Logan Prett (Littlestone) kept up his good form of this season and won the 18 holes on the par-3 Northcliffe course with a score of 65. Runner-up, Alfie Loveday (Hever Castle), took 68 strokes, just ahead of Kings Hill’s Harry Martin in third on 70. It was a case of déjà vu when it came to the final Order of Merit standings as the same three players finished in the same three positions! Congratulations to Logan for lifting the LROS Trophy, and we look forward to watching his handicap tumble in 2026.
In the Under 10s skills tests, our best putter was Birchwood Park’s Leo Porch, with Max Perry (Upchurch River Valley) taking the honours for chipping. In the Driving test, we had a tie, with Henry Meade just edging it on countback from Ralph Bridge and Denny Connor. Showing good consistency across all three disciplines to take the overall skills prize was Shane Cooper (Sheerness). In the 9-hole par-3 challenge, Henry picked up 3rd place with his 34, and Ralph came second with a very commendable 31. But no one could better Oscar Robertson, who dropped only two shots in his 29. Very well played! This cemented Oscar’s position at the top of the Order of Merit, and he became the worthy recipient of the Molyneux Trophy for 2025. Runner-up was Ralph, with Samuel Willis (Upchurch River Valley) coming a close third.
We thank North Foreland for their continuing support of this event, which is greatly enjoyed by children and grown-ups alike. Thank you to Harvey for setting the skills tests and also to our Kent Golf volunteers – Marilyn, Tom, Tim, and Fran – for giving up their time to help our future superstars at the beginning of their golfing journey. Long may it continue!
