What a week at St Enodoc. What a season.
We went into the National Finals knowing we had a chance, and while the results didn't quite fall our way - losing 6-3 to Lancashire on Day 1, then 6½-2½ to eventual champions Leicestershire & Rutland on Day 2 - I couldn't be prouder of how these lads responded.
We came out on Day 3 and played really well against a strong Gloucestershire, 6½-2½, showing exactly what this group is about.
Of course, we're disappointed. We were so close to winning both the league and nationals. But that's golf... fine margins!
I'm immensely proud of what we've achieved as a team this season. We've got a dedicated bunch of great lads who are not only super talented, but super professional too. The commitment, the buy-in, the way they've bonded - it's been brilliant to watch.
Ben Barham, our first team coach, put it perfectly: "We've built a culture now where everyone genuinely wants to be part of this team and contribute to something bigger than themselves. We've been close on all fronts - close to winning the league, close to winning at nationals. While it hurts to come up short, it's also a sign that we're right there."
And he's absolutely right. We ARE right there.
This is an incredibly talented, highly motivated, committed team of guys who are going to achieve great things - both for Kent and in their own futures. The foundations are solid. The culture is strong. The appetite is there.
2026? Bring it on.
