Bradley Cook Finals Day report

Date published: 14 Oct 2025

The 2025 Bradley Cook knockout reached its conclusion at a chilly Faversham Golf Club just as their beautiful trees were beginning to change into their finest autumn colours.

The final of the Parallel Plate was between Langley Park and Nizels, and the first point went to Langley courtesy of Bella Watson, who beat Adele Young by 4&3. Matters were soon levelled by Nizels’ Nikki Jones, as she overcame Nicola Elgie by a score of 6&5. Nizels then took control of the match as Pat Morecroft stormed home by 7&5 over Evelyn Collington, and Juli Fayers swiftly followed with a 6&4 victory over Ann Greatorex. The outstanding game between Sarah Graf and Carol Turl was all square after the regulation 18 holes, and an honourable half was agreed upon. Final score: Nizels 3.5 – 1.5 Langley Park.

In the Trophy competition between Prince’s and Sundridge Park, it was an altogether closer affair. In the top game, Ally Kutz just edged it on the home green from Kim Morris to give Prince’s the first point, only for Sundridge’s Tita McCart to nick the second point, also on the last green, from Sandy Hallet. After a ding-dong battle in game three, Joanne Herd (Prince’s) just got the better of Ingrid Long, again, on the home green. Eighteen holes weren’t enough to separate Mags Hambling and Philippa North, so up the 19th they went, just as the final game - between Ali McGuirk and Anne-Marie Forrester - was making its way down 18 with everything still in the balance. But defending champions, Prince’s, were not to be denied as Mags held her nerve on the extra hole and Ali made a steady par on 18 to clinch the title by an overall margin of 4-1; a scoreline that doesn’t do justice to how close it really was. Many congratulations to Prince’s for another fine performance, and we look forward to seeing them attempt the hattrick next year!

Our thanks go to Paul and his team at Faversham for looking after us so well; it truly is always a pleasure to visit. Thanks also to Ladies’ Captain at Faversham, Jane Beedle, for starting our finalists off and presenting the trophies and prizes, and to our dependable referees, Ash and Ken, for being so generous with their time.
