Kent Golf held its annual Women and Girls Multi Squad Day on Sunday 1st February at Pedham Place GC. Despite the wet conditions, the venue provided a welcoming setting for a day designed to bring together our female squads for a blend of practical clinics, expert coaching, and educational workshops focused on both mental and physical wellbeing.
A total of 40 players from the Junior, 1st, 2nd and Senior squads took part. Players were placed into mixed teams and competed against one another in putting and short game challenges on the practice range and Pedham’s par 3 course. Although the rain was persistent, enthusiasm and commitment never waned. The teamwork and encouragement shown between players was fantastic to see, particularly from our juniors, some of whom were attending the event for the first time.
In the afternoon, we welcomed Simon Millington from Delamill Wellbeing Solutions and Dr Anthony Ghosh MD FRCS, Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon (The Spine MDT), who delivered informative and engaging wellbeing sessions. Simon introduced the SHEDS model — Sleep, Hydration, Exercise, Diet and Screen Time — and shared practical strategies for managing each area to support performance. Anthony provided a candid and accessible overview of spinal health, explaining how the spine moves and demonstrating simple everyday exercises to help maintain a healthy back.
The day concluded with Junior Team Manager Cheryl recognising outgoing Junior Captain Claudia Carlotti for her outstanding contribution over the past year, and welcoming our new Junior Captain, Skye Fontanelli. Both delivered confident speeches reflecting on their involvement with Kent Golf, and Skye shared her hopes and aspirations for the coming season.
Cheryl also presented the Performance and Participation Awards for the 2025 season and congratulated the winners of the ‘Race to the London Golf Club’, having attained the lowest aggregate scratch and nett scores and highest handicap reduction over the 2025 season: Selina Bartarya, Teagan Ford and Bella Watson, respectively. These players have earned the opportunity to play a round of golf with Junior Girls Coach Anna Smith at the London Golf Club.
County President Ingrid gave a final address, thanking everyone involved for their contributions and support. Players departed with renewed motivation and plenty of inspiration to take into the upcoming golfing season, as well as a few special gifts – none more popular than the Positive Potato badge!
Our thanks go to coaches Anna Smith, James Skelton and Steve Mitchell, alongside Lead Coach Tim Milford, and all the staff at Pedham Place who helped to deliver a fantastic day. A big “Shout Out” too to Active Kent & Medway, who supported our education workshops as they seek to change and improve lives through sport and physical activity.
