Well done to Memphis Greenwood (Chelsfield Lakes), who finished in 13th place in The Daily Mail World Junior Golf Championship (Boys 12-13 category), which was played over three rounds at the beautiful but tricky Villa Padierna Golf Club in Spain.
Memphis, who plays off 6, shot 78, 79, and a battling and mature 75 on the final day, which ironically was also his last day of being 13.
He went knowing that his chances of winning weren’t realistic in the high-quality field against youngsters from all over the world, but ploughed on physically and mentally, and the final round was a testament to his ability, both shot making and club selection wise, over a very hazardous course and lightning fast greens.
As Memphis was an integral part of the County U14 squad last year, we are very happy to see him in such great form ahead of the new season.
