South East of England Links Championship – 29th– 31st August

The South East of England Links Championship at the superb Kent venues of Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club and 2020 Open Championship venue of Royal St. George’s Golf Club were well contested with Kent players and those from further afield for this superb World Amateur Golf Ranking event.

The initial day of Golf saw a superb Kent 1,2,3 with Kent First team player Mason Essam leading with a gross 69 (-3) and Kent Colt team player Sam Robertson in a close 2nd place with a gross 70 (-2) and Rochester and Cobham’s John Ingham in a close 3rd with a gross 71 (-1).

As the week progressed the Kent success didn’t waiver with Mason Essam finishing in tied 2nd place with a total score of 288 (+2) and Ben Quinney and defending champion Jamie Guppy both in the top 8. Furthermore, a first in the Prince of Wales Challenge Cup ever with a 5-way tie for 1st place! Three of the five players being Kent’s Jamie Guppy, Ben Quinney and Mason Essam, thus rounding off a fantastic event for team Kent, congratulations to all of the successful competitors.

A huge thanks to Royal Cinque Ports and Royal St. George’s for presenting the courses so brilliantly for this event and their constant hospitality throughout the week. Likewise, an enormous thanks to all of the Kent Golf officials which assisted in this event.
