Beautiful Burhill (7 June) was in great condition, good fairways & pure greens. The Surrey team as always are great company & very competitive.
The Kent Team:
Danny Holmes (London Club) led the team out playing Ian Attoe, an England player & Danny played great winning 2&1. Surrey levelled up as Bob Florence (Rochester & Cobham) lost 2&1 to a very consistent Surrey player.
The next two Kent players Mark Haffenden (Langley Park) winning 3&2 and Phil Judge (Rochester & Cobham) winning 4&3 played with great skill to put Kent ahead 3 to 1.
The next 3 matches all went to Surrey. Danny Curtis (Knole Park) lost a hard fought game 2&1 to R&A Martin Slumbers. John Coupe (Canterbury), his first as Captain, lost 1 down and Richard Partridge (Wilderness) lost 4&3. Surrey now leading 4 to 3.
The last 3 players all played really good golf starting with Martin Farbrace (Sene Valley), 4 down at one point, won 7 holes on the trot to win 3&2, Scott Davies (Wilderness) winning 4&3 and debutant Andrew Francis (Bearsted) winning 5&4, came storming through to help Kent win the match 6 to 4.
Thank you to all the players for their effort and team spirit. The next match is Sussex away at Seaford on 30 June.
