Senior Ladies Strokeplay Championships

34 ladies took on the challenge of Kings Hill to play in the Seniors Strokeplay Championship that was played over two days.

Day 1 – Thursday 29 July

The players went out in handicap order so Kent Captain Tita McCart (HI:0.6) Sundridge Park lead the field with the current Seniors Champion Kim Morris (HI:1.4) Sundridge Park.

Everyone completed their round saying the course was in good condition but tough going due to the weather conditions.

Leading the field after day 1 was Kim with Gross 80 followed by Nicola Jones (HI: 7.1) Nizels with Gross 82 and Mary MacLaren (HI:2.6) Chislehurst with Gross 83.

Day 2 – Friday 30 July

The players commenced play in reverse order of day 1’s scores and started off in reasonably calm weather conditions but it quickly deteriorated to strong winds and heavy rain but all the ladies continued to play the competition in good spirit.

Mary completed her round with Gross 79 closely followed by Kim with Gross 80 and Tita with Gross 81.

Kim being very consistent with a Gross score of 160 retained her title of Senior Ladies Strokeplay Champion and will now represent Kent in the England Golf Senior Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa on September 4th and 5th.

Runner up was Mary with a Gross score of 162

The Handicap winner was Val Field (HI: 12.6) Littlestone with a Nett score of 148 and the runner up was Nikki Bell (HI:14.7) Nizels with a Nett score of 150.

The competition was followed by a 2 course meal that was most welcome to the ladies once they had warmed up!

Prize giving concluded the event with Club Captain Paul Miles presenting the trophies to both the Scratch and Handicap winners and runners up.
