Latest Men's Order of Merit report

Date published: 21 Jun 2022

The new leader at the top of the County Order of Merit table is Royal Blackheath’s Matthew Gibson.

A superb performance to the semi-finals of the Amateur Championship, as well as a 2 nd place at The Bearsted Open and a 6 th place finish at the Brice Bowl, saw a points haul that has him 10 points clear of 2 nd placed, Nick Panting, with 77 points.

Nick had a good result in his home clubs Open, the Brice Bowl, as well as reaching the quarter finals of the Kent Amateur Championship, to bolster his hopes of claiming another OOM title.

A fantastic win at the Bearsted Open for Harry Knight shoots him up the table, although he wasn’t able to carry that form into the Kent Amateur, he still has enough to hold onto 3 rd place with 59 points.

Shaun Macklin of Rochester & Cobham is just another 3 points back from Harry in 4 th place after a good result in the Brice Bowl. Just one point further back is Sundridge Parks’ Luke Spooner after his fantastic result in the Kent Amateur, reaching the final and claiming The Hetherington Salver.

Defeating Luke in that final, was our new County Champion, Daniel Cooke of Canterbury, who shoots up to 8 th position on that result alone. I’m sure Daniel will now be looking at the other County Order of Merit events to help secure this title as well.

Next up is the Darwin Plate at the beautiful West Kent Golf Club on 26 th June, best of luck to the players competing in that.
