Men's Senior Scratch & Handicap Championships

Knole Park hosted the Seniors County Championship this year on two bright, yet windy, days.
The course was presented in magnificent condition for the two days, with compliments and appreciation shown by the players to Head Greenkeeper, Kris Durrant, and his team for the exceptional work.
The first day saw the scratch competition playing their first round and saw some tough scoring conditions from the black tees. It left 4 players in a tie for 1st place, with Jon Cooper, Alan Austin, Mark Haffenden and Philip Judge leading the way with scores of 73. With the top 8 only separated by 2 shots, it promised to go down to the wire the following day.
The next day, several of the leading pack fall behind and left a 3-way battle for the championship. The 3 of Richard Tomlin, Danny Holmes and Jon Cooper all improved on their first rounds scores, with Jon shooting a 72 and Danny Holmes shooting a level-par 70 to both finish on 5 over. But it was Richard Tomlin's (Sundridge Park) impressive 69, and the only sub-par round of the 2 days, that took the title by 2 shots with a final 143, 3 over par. Congratulations to Richard!
The Handicap competition saw the Handicap A competition saw a close battle, with the top 3 players separated by 1 shot. Colin Beattie, of Gillingham in 3rd, and Jeremy Brewer of Kings Hill, 2nd, shooting scores of 72 to be decided by countback, with our winner being Andrew Dickson of Langley Park Golf Club with an impressive 71. Congratulations to Andrew!
The Handicap B had Shane Reid of Nizels in 3rd, Carlo Barbieri of Ashford Golf Club 2nd and the winner from Eltham Warren with a nett 73, Mark Brown. Congratulations Mark.
