Senior Men’s Team beat Sussex 6.5 - 3.5

A tremendous result for the Senior Men’s team beating Sussex 6.5 - 3.5 at Rochester & Cobham GC. After 8 holes, Kent were only ahead in one match, so the team rallied round in very blustery conditions to win. The top games involving Danny Holmes and Phil Judge both went to the 18th, with Danny winning his there, and Phil getting a half from a superb 60 yard up and down. Bob Florence and Mark Haffenden both produced excellent 2/1 wins, Bob was 2 down early on in the match. Peter Newman had an impressive win too, having been down on several occasions through out his match, to win 2/1. Danny Curtis and Darren Ottaway both also won their matches on the 16th and 17th holes respectively, again from being down early on, following some excellent play on the back nine. The rest of the team also put up strong showings but couldn’t quite get their matches over the line.
The team has now beaten Surrey and Sussex, and now need to focus on away matches against Dorset and Hampshire in the coming months.
