Sunday saw this year's Summer Mixed Greensomes played at Walmer & Kingsdown on a warm but windy day.
Even by coastal-course standards, this wind had the players battling some very tough conditions! So strong was the wind, that organisers struggled to keep the County's flutter flags upright, eventually resorting to using local furniture to help prop them up!
The scoring stayed relatively good though, with the Nett winners picking up the McKenzie Trophy, newly donated by Alistair and Jude McKenzie, with a fantastic score of 40 points, were Mark Ward, Rochester & Cobham, and Jacklyn Barons, Canterbury. Jacklyn also won both Nearest the pin prizes, one of which after lipping-out for a hole in one! Congratulations to you both on a great win!
Runners up were Chris Frost and Julian Gray with a very respectable score of 37.
The Gross prize was won by father & daughter, Ian and Nicola Smith of Sittingbourne & Milton Regis Golf Club, with an 8 over par 80. Nicola, fresh from her win with the Women at County Week, congratulations to them both!
Runners up were Alison Chapman and Andy Walker, Prince's, with a gross score of 10 over 82.
Our sincere thanks to Walmer & Kingsdown for hosting such a wonderful day and having the course in wonderful condition for the players.
Gross winners - Ian Smith and Nicola Smith (Sittingbourne & Milton Regis)
