Kent Golf Limited

Board Vacancies Announcement

Date published: 13 Jul 2022

Are you passionate about the game of golf and want to see the game flourish in Kent both now and in the future?

Kent Golf is the body administering amateur golf in Kent for men, women and juniors. In 2022, we were awarded County of the year by England Golf.

We need volunteers (both women and men) in order to maintain and build upon the achievements of the past few years both on and off the course. Directors are elected by our members, the Kent golf clubs, at our AGM and the term of office is three years.

Each elected director, of which there are seven, is allocated a committee to chair based upon the skill set of the board at the time of election. At the 2022 AGM (7 September), we have four directors retiring (some of whom may stand for re-election). These comprise the Chair, the Director of Player Development, Finance Director, and the Director who represents Kent at meetings of England Golf and England Golf South-Eastern Region.

Those standing would be expected to be a good communicator, approachable and have effective listening skills.

In order to take the County forward, we are looking for progressive, forward-thinking individuals who are respectful of the traditions of the game of Golf.

It is crucial that any applicant knows how to organise their time and is able to commit time voluntarily to developing golf in Kent from grass roots to elite level within the board and committee structure adopted by Kent Golf Limited.

We have a solid team of employees who carry out the bulk of the administrative tasks but we rely on volunteers to attend events and tournaments in a number of on and off course roles and to conduct course ratings.

There are usually 6 to 8 Board Meetings a year which commence in the early evening. In addition, any committee that you are responsible would meet regularly and report to the Board. The scope of each of the committees can be found at www.kentgolf.org/committees

The closing date for applications is 31 July.

If you are interested in volunteering such a role, please email the County Secretary, Sarah McDonald, for more details: secretary@kentgolf.co.uk
