Is Ray the oldest scratch champion in the UK?

Eltham Warren's Ray Williams has won the club's Scratch and Handicap Trophies at the age of 78!!
He finished the 36 hole event on 145 (129 nett) winning the scratch by 1 shot and the handicap by 5. Ray, who was playing off a Course Handicap of 8 for the event, joined the Club in 1984 and was Club Captain in 2014. He has now won the Scratch prize at the Warren four times, and the Handicap prize twice.
Ray regularly beats his age on the course, and may now be the oldest club champion in Britain.... Or is he??
