Still Playing at 93: Golf Club Celebrates

A special golf competition is being held at Langley Park Golf Club in Bromley on 12th September. The club will be celebrating the 93rd birthday of Ranjit Hansra who at this grand age still plays 18 holes three times a week, with a regular four ball or in a lunchtime roll up.

Asked whether there were ever pace of play problems playing with Ranjit, one of his regular playing group, Alberto Pensa said: “Never. Ranjit plays his shots quickly. He never holds a group up.”

Players in the competition include Ranjit’s sons and grandson, all members at the club. Commenting on this special event in the club calendar Langley Park general manager Rachel Middleton said: “It seemed so important to mark this occasion after all the difficulties of the past two years. Ranjit joined us four years ago so that he did not have so far to drive to get his regular golf in. It’s been a delight to celebrate his 93rd. We wonder whether there is another golfer in the UK still playing three rounds a week at ninety three.”

Ranjit has no plans to reduce his golf play in the immediate future.
